Book presentation & Interview

Public speaking is not something I do often, but thanks to a collaboration fostered through the Universal Civil Service and the Pro Loco where I served in 2020-21, I had the opportunity to experience something truly unforgettable.

Always attuned to social trends, my former colleagues and I came up with the idea of organizing a book presentation at the place where we had spent a year working. This initiative was born out of a strong synergy between the community and the public, resulting in a truly memorable event.

Personally, I thoroughly studied the book and prepared questions for the interview based on it. Being a fan and compatriot of the author, we enjoyed the process immensely.

Gino Bucci, known online as “L’Abruzzese Fuori Sede,” created the Facebook page in 2014 to promote Abruzzo, a region that, believe me, was less known than Molise until a few years ago. The page gradually gained visibility, amassing over 224,000 followers on Facebook, more than 55,000 on Gruppo Agricolo, and more than 29,000 on Instagram.

The key to its success, in my opinion, lies in its writing style—a blend of Italian and dialect marked by subtle irony and satire.

Gino, through his page, shares stories and anecdotes often submitted by followers, along with a deep passion for Abruzzo and its literary culture.

“Rime Toscibili” by Gino Bucci evolved over the years during his sleepless nights. “Toscibili” has various meanings, but the most common is “Debatable,” reflecting how the rhymes can be interpreted in numerous ways.

The book takes readers on a journey through the many facets of our region: from mysterious folklore figures and culinary traditions to family life, lesser-known villages and neighborhoods, and the experiences of emigrants. It also includes humorous dedications to various showbiz personalities, whether connected to Abruzzo or not.
